For this response I have focused on Julias’s post on distributed education, open education, modes of learning and digital literacy.
Hi Julia,
Thank you for your post! I am also neurodivergent with ADHD and was diagnosed with a reading disability early, so I can certainly relate to some of the struggles you have gone through with this and find it very inspiring that it has lead you to study upon this topic. This is what led me to becoming a behaviour interventionist and working with ASD children!
To further expand on your post I would like to say that digital literacy is certainly your technical capability, it relates to computers, phones, tablets, even nowadays if you have a fancy car that uses higher end technology.
As well, you mentioned distributed/open education as one paragraph and I would just like to differentiate them here because although they are very similar, there is distinctions. Distributed education is, like you said, allows for a lot more people to access learning! It is distributed online and so it allows more flexibility in time, location, and learning style. However, open education is a more welcoming online educational experience that specifically drives to remove the barriers of location, financial hardship and limited access by giving the opportunity to literally anyone.
